Running group in Cairns

Casual and friendly running and walking groups at beautiful local locations in Cairns. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, running outdoors is a wonderful activity to stay fit and connect with like-minded people.

Improve your fitness

Running is a great aerobic activity that will gradually improve your stamina and keep you in shape. Running outdoors gives you constantly changing views, natural cooling, and exhilarating fresh air.

What’s more, if you’re up for it, you can participate in the Cairns Park Run, a 5km run from the Cairns jetty every Saturday at 7am. You can join Sharon in her training for a half-marathon. Push yourself out of your comfort zone - or simply enjoy a casual walk, taking in gorgeous luscious palm trees and chatting with others along the way.

All running levels and ages

Whether you’re a serious runner or are after a relaxed walk, no matter what your age, you’re welcome to join us.

It’s easier to keep going with a friend alongside you. You’ll run with a great bunch of friendly people of all ages who love the outdoors and living a fit, healthy lifestyle. No one will be left behind!

We usually form 2 groups of different levels that meet at the start and end of every session, heading out for brekky at a local cafe afterward.

Qualified guides

Your running personal trainer is Sharon, a Cairns local who is passionate about helping others get fit and enjoy the quality of life that good health brings. Sharon has qualifications in fitness, including first aid.

Different terrain and views

We’ll alternate between trail and road running, a great way to improve fitness and immerse yourself in the beauty of Cairns.

Buddy Up Australia

We welcome ex-service personnel to join us for a run. This is an initiative of Brett, who understands how tough it can be physically and mentally to resume ‘normal’ life after leaving the service. He contributes to the community by offering this running club to Buddy Up Australia.

Brett enjoys running outdoors, no matter what the weather. It’s how he maintains the resilience, strength, and adaptability formed from many years in the army. It also helps him deal with stress and sleep better.

He has found that running together is a great way to continue to stay physically fit while rediscovering the social connection and camaraderie that was a large part of service roles.

It renews purpose and helps regain a sense of identity and feeling of value. Please contact us if you’d like to chat with Brett before a run.
